In the section "History of literature" published review "I. Steshenko. I.P. Kotlyarevsky and Osipov and their interrelations" (1898).
It seems to me that Mr. Steshenko would have been better done if he had not tried to be too detailed where his sources are not at all detailed.
28 Mar 2019 New story
We continue to publish the story "Crossing stitches" (1900). Today – the next 3 sections, including "12. The business of the lender Wagman".
I will say even more: my freinds-moneylenders consider me to be the worst, most dangerous moneylender, because I know laws and thousands of hooks, I know people and human beings.

I think that censorship should not have anything against those short stories that are in "In the sweat of a forehead", since almost all of them were printed in Russia in Polish, they went censor when not to St. Petersburg, then to Warsaw. (Mar 11, 1892. To A. Yu. Krymsky)

Hence my work will allow you to look into one of the dark cubes of ancient antiquity and find manifestations of human spirit and human creativity.

We publish unfinished sketch "Rovta".
Yes, mother nature does not really indulge our bojko people. There is probably no real spring in their mountains, and in October, sometimes even in September, new snow comes.

In the section "History of literature" published article "The scriptures of I.P. Kotlyarevsky in Galicia" (1898).
It was possible for Golovatsky himself and whole his generation to make such a quick and sharp turn from the formal little-russian nationalism to the same formal and abstract general-russian nationalism.

She has no temperament. She is cold like a fish, a gloomy, everything is conceived and never imagines anything, without initiative, but at the same time stubborn and enthusiastic where she can make some kind of annoyance for me.

We publish unfinished short story "Forester Sider".
The course of Sidor was heavy and clumsy, as the course of a heavy cart with hay. His voice was sharp and wild, like a real forest man.

In the section "History of literature" published review "N. I. Petrov. Description of the manuscript collections in Kyiv" (1898).
Kyiv’s handwritten collections are bits of time, things that either barbarian hands did not manage to destroy, or the greedy claws did not have time or did not consider it necessary to plunder.

Jan Neruda bring a completely new spirit. Without ceasing for a moment to be a Czech and Czech patriot, he, as if continuing the direction begun by Macha, runs out of the framework of national content.

In the section "History of literature" published article "Khmelnytsky is an unrecognized Polish patriot" (1898).
These noblemen from a long time ago looked at the buddies of lords unloved eyes, and even in Khmelnytsky they could see not so much the enemy of Poland and the Polish people, but rather an enemy of those who were in power.

We publish unfinished comedy "Mr. Hwindiuk’s wedding".

In the section "History of literature" published article "Forgotten Ukrainian verse writer of the XVII century" (1898).
One should not completely forget about them as one of the oldest (before 1612 year!) samples of Ukrainian versification, and especially as a trial of expression certain moral rules in a short poetic form.

Generally, Miriam’s poetry is inspired by courage and energy. But the philosopher and thinker do not muffle the poet, who is able to draw landscapes and scenes quite realistically.

In the section "History of literature" published review «A. Brückner. Die russisch-litauische Kirchenunion und ihre literarischen Denkmäler» (1898).
Here are two works of the Berlin professor Brückner – perhaps the most valuable of all that was written on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Brest Union.

In the section "Literary criticism" published the article "George Brandes" (1899).
Almost all the newspapers stumbled on Brandes, screamed at him as a revolutionary and simply called on the government to save Denmark from danger. And the government really quickly removed Brandes from the cathedra.

A strange disproportion came from prof. Ponomarev between the promise – to give a critically corrected text and what he gave really.
